ERVING — The Erving Police Department is looking for 34-year-old Christopher T. Tatro after he allegedly took jewelry from a woman known to him at Weatherhead Apartments and fled from police.

According to Erving Police Chief Robert Holst, a report came in at 6:34 a.m. on Monday from a woman at Weatherhead Apartments reporting a disturbance with her ex-boyfriend, and the suspect, identified as Tatro, fled when approached by Sgt. Adam Paicos, who was the first to arrive on scene. Once on scene, the reporting party told Paicos about the stolen jewelry.

A Facebook post on the “Officer Ziva the Bloodhound” page explains Erving Police Officer Laura Gordon and K-9 Ziva helped Paicos, Holst and Gill Police Sgt. John Richardson in the investigation. Ziva was able to track down the stolen jewelry and other items by locating a coat that was left behind by Tatro near the apartments.

Holst provided further context, saying that while trailing, Ziva came across a coat containing the jewelry that the reporting party identified as stolen, along with other items not belonging to the reporting party, but not confirmed to be stolen at this time. The coat was tied back to Tatro via a pay stub found in the coat. A dollar amount associated with the jewelry was not provided.

Holst said there is a warrant out for Tatro’s arrest. Three charges, one felony and two misdemeanors are included as part of the warrant. Tatro is described as being a non-Hispanic, white male who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s estimated at between 120 and 140 pounds with a skinny build and high cheekbones.

The wanted poster for Tatro was posted at the Weatherheads Convenience Store at 63 French King Highway as well as at the French King Bowling Center across the street, according to Holst. Tatro is not suspected to be armed or dangerous, and he is known to evade police. The poster asks that people not approach Tatro, but call the Shelburne Control Dispatch Center at 413-625-8200.
