HS Roundup: Frontier girls basketball moves to 5-0 with win over Ludlow

The Frontier girls basketball team has shown its dominance on the defensive end of the floor to open the season.
Taking on Ludlow on Friday, the Redhawks held the Lions to 14 points in the first half and just four in the second half, allowing Frontier to walk away with a 74-18 independent victory at Goodnow Gymnasium in South Deerfield.
Addie Harrington recorded 21 points, Jazzy Hayes tossed in 16 points, Harper Modestow tallied 10 points while Skyler Steele and Rowan Reilly each had six points in the victory for Frontier, which improved to 5-0 on the season with the win.
Franklin Tech 40, Mohawk Trail 26 — Leading 21-16 at the half, the Eagles brought their best in the third quarter.
Franklin Tech didn’t allow the Warriors to score in the third, winning the frame 13-0, to walk away with a Franklin County League South win in Turners on Friday.
Haleigh Benoit scored 10 points, Abi Dobias tossed in nine points, Brayleigh Burgh recorded eight points while Hannah Gilbert added five points and 11 steals in the victory.
Greenfield 54, McCann Tech 31 — The Green Wave picked up their first win of the season on Friday, taking down the Hornets at Nichols Gymnasium behind 20 points from Tayler Bergeron and 18 points from Gloria McDonald.
Niya Strohman tossed in seven points, Anna Bucala scored six points while Elderina Cecunjanin added three points in the victory.

Taking on the Lancers, Greenfield scored four goals in the first period to run away with a 6-1 road victory. The win made it three in a row to open the season for the Green Wave.
Chase Zraunig opened the scoring before Jake Jurek potted a pair of goals. Shawn Baumann closed out the period with a goal to give Greenfield its 4-0 lead.
Shawn Beckwith and Jack Laurie closed out the scoring in the third period for the Wave. Matt Garvin (2), Anson Prunier, Porter Hall, Beckwith and Cam Hopkins provided the assists while Cooper Smith made 19 saves in the victory.
Boys basketball
Frontier 58, Mahar 49 — Make it three wins to open the season for the Redhawks, who walked away with a Hampshire League South triumph over the Senator s at Goodnow Gymnasium Thursday.
Max Millette scored a game-high 25 points, Garrett Dredge and Alex Ellis each put up 11 points while Rowan Modestow added four points for Frontier, who led 30-22 at the half and 43-35 going into the fourth.
Jayden Delgado recorded 18 points, Morgan Softic scored nine points while Lian Lopez-Baez, Marshall Ames and Derek Collins each had six points for Mahar.
