MIAA cross country: Frontier, Mohawk Trail set for Div. 3 state race at Fort Devens

Frontier, Mohawk Trail and Greenfield will be represented at the MIAA Division 3 Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Fort Devens in Ayer.
The Redhawk boys picked up a fifth-place team finish in the 3B wave of the MIAA Div. 3 qualifier last Saturday at Northfield Mountain to secure a spot as a team at states this coming weekend. Same for the Warrior boys, which finished sixth in the Div. 3 qualifier to keep their season going.
It was freshman Evan Hedlund who paced Frontier last Saturday, earning a fifth place individual finish. Luke Howard placed eighth, Amory Maxey finished in 38th, Oliver Brown came in 55th while Charles Dennis came in 80th to complete the Redhawk scorers.
Brendan Carey, AJ Desmond, Caleb Libbey, Leland Murphy and Adam Paul will also be running for Frontier at states.
Vincent Gauthier paced Mohawk Trail with a 14th place finish to help the Warriors qualify for states. Peter Healy came in 26th, Rex Kuoppala earned 52nd, Aymeric Loucka finished in 68th and Carson Richardson took 91st to help Mohawk Trail advance.
Leo Boltz and Aidan Gauthier will also run for Mohawk Trail on Saturday.
Greenfield did not qualify as a team, finishing 12th in the 3C wave, but senior Jackson Caron had a run that earned him an individual spot at states.
Caron was the 12th runner to cross the finish line, allowing him to move on to states as an individual.

The Div. 3 boys race will kick off the meet at 11 a.m.
The Division 3 girls race will get underway just after at 11:45 a.m., also at Fort Devens, with Frontier and Mohawk Trail also qualifying as a team.
Both schools ran in the 3C wave at the Div. 3 qualifier, where the Redhawks picked up a sixth-place team finish and the Warriors finished in seventh.
Senior Nicole Plasse was the top Frontier runner, earning 32nd. Sylvie DiBartolomeo finished in 38th, Leah Gump came in 53rd, Liv Christensen placed 55th (23:19) and Maia Christensen took 56th (23:21) to score for the Redhawks.
Mary Burt, Sasha Malo, Una Millette, Kiera Nugent and Phoebe Radner will also running for Frontier at states.
Mohawk Trail’s Virginia Krezmien was the top Recorder area finisher at the Div. 3 qualifier last week, crossing the line in 13th overall.
Anya Read finished in 28th, Natalie Lanoue took 39th, Valerie Bzomowski came in 43rd while Katie Osterman placed 129th to help the Warriors qualify for states.
Ettalynn Thompson will also run for Mohawk Trail on Saturday.
The awards ceremony for the Div. 3 meet is set for 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. The Div. 1 boys race gets going at 12:30 p.m. followed by the Div. 1 girls race at 1:15. The meet wraps up with the Div. 2 boys race at 2 and the Div. 2 girls race at 2:45.
